The building quests are nice too, they will ask you to build new houses with a certain theme (usually racial), and when a quest chain ends up with you getting a decoration item for someone there is a chance that he'll ask you to place it in his house. Usually when you rescue someone, he'll hang around the house of the person that sent you to rescue him and you'll see them interact with each other in different ways all over your colony. It's a procedural system so yeah, it's not the best thing in the world, but still it's not as dumb as it may seem, they really made sure to include a lot of little details here and there to make it feel like it has some meaning.
